Time softens afternoon listens what was shaped now wants to sound, a curve becomes a note a texture becomes rhythm a crack, maybe a beat

we follow it not knowing where it goes..

Our summer camp is pure creativity!

10 am the day starts hands on at Pezzi di Mo : Rua da Arrabida 77C (5 to 14 yo)

12.30 pm we go for lunch to Jardim de Parada

2 pm the day continues with a lot of music at Music Room: Rua da arrabida 55A (7 to 10 yo)

PRICE:

Payments are handled separately, and children will need to bring their own lunch.

FULL PROGRAM 

Alice in Wonderland – Songwriting Summer Camp

Ages: 7–10
Schedule: 14:00–17:00

  • Block 1: 14:00–15:00

  • Break: 15:00–15:30

  • Block 2: 15:30–16:45

  • Free time: 16:45–17:00

Dates: June 29 – July 3 (5 days)
Theme: Alice in Wonderland

 

Day 1 – Down the Rabbit Hole

Block 1 – Rhythm & Imagination (14:00–15:00)

Opening Circle (15 min)

  • Name game with shaker:

    • “My name is… and I like…”

    • Group repeats using body percussion (claps, legs)

Playful Vocal Warm-up (5 min)

  • Strange sounds

  • “Wonderland-style” voices

Story Introduction (5–10 min)

  • Who is Lewis Carroll?

  • What do they imagine Wonderland to be like?

Reading + Sound Design (25 min)

  • Read Chapter 1: Down the Rabbit Hole

  • Distribute instruments

  • Create real-time sound effects to accompany the story

 

Break (15:00–15:30)

 

Block 2 – First Creation (15:30–16:45)

Soundscape: “The Fall” (20 min)

  • Key question: “What does falling sound like?”

In groups::

  • Create one continuous sound (e.g., “shhhhh”)

    • Use loop station

  • Add 2 short sounds (e.g., “plop”, “ding”)

  • Structure the piece:

    • Beginning – middle – end

  • Draw a visual score

Group sharing:

  • Some groups perform sound

  • Others create movement

 

Melody without Lyrics (20 min)

  • Use 3 notes (e.g., do–re–mi)

  • Use a simple rhythm (clapping) given by the teacher

  • Students repeat and modify one element (note or rhythm)

  • Each group creates a short melody

 

Drawing & Sound (25 min)

  • Draw the White Rabbit

  • Transform the drawing into sound/rhythm using questions:

    • Is the rabbit fast or slow?

    • Does it make a high or low sound?

 

Closing (16:45–17:00)

  • Relaxation: “Sound journey in Wonderland”

  • Free time


 

Day 2 - What’s Wonderland?

Block 1 – Rhythm & Imagination (14:00–15:00)

Learn a new song together “EPOITAITAIÉ”

Variations (tempo/word play)

  • Fast / slow / removing words

Guided creation from the song (25 min)
In groups:

  • Choose 1 word (e.g., “rabbit”)

  • Break it into syllables (rab–bit)

  • Create a movement for each syllable

  • Add an instrument

  • Integrate everything

Presentations

  • Each group presents

  • Rhythmic layering (like a chaotic Wonderland ritual)

Break (15:00–15:30)

Block 2 – Cinema

  • Screening of Alice in Wonderland (1h 15 min)

Free time (16:45–17:00)

 

 

Day 3 – The Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat

Block 1 – Music (14:00–15:00)

Warm-up (10 min)

  • “EPOITAITAIÉ”

Exercise with “C Jam Blues” (20 min)

  • Introduce the song (play melody with a backing track)

  • Students repeat using body percussion:

    • Legs = SOL

    • Claps = DO

Lyric creation (Lyric Hats) (30 min)
Each group draws from hats:

  • 1 place

  • 1 emotion

  • 1 action

Example:

“In the forest
I am running
I feel scared”

 

Break (15:00–15:30)

 

Block 2 – Characters (15:30–16:45)

Simple masks (20 min)

  • Create masks/costumes for:

    • Alice

    • Caterpillar

    • Cheshire Cat

  • (Object to take home)

  • Materials: arts & crafts supplies (to be confirmed)

Reading – Caterpillar & Cheshire Cat chapter (25 min)
While reading, students act in groups using masks/costumes:

  • Caterpillar group → acts as the Caterpillar

  • Cheshire Cat group → acts as the Cheshire Cat

  • Alice group → acts as Alice

Scene creation (25 min)

  • Using songs from Block 1, each group creates a short scene

Guiding questions:

  • How do the characters speak?

  • How do they sing?

Free time (20 min)

 

 

Day 4 – Happy Non-Birthday! / Tea Party

Block 1 – Gymkhana (14:00–15:00)

Gymkhana: Searching for the White Rabbit (50 min)
Goal: Find the White Rabbit by completing a poem

Set up challenges around the space:

  • Repeat a rhythm (teacher shows, students copy – fast/slow)

  • Estimate exactly one minute mentally

  • Answer a question about the story

  • Movement challenge (dance from one side of the room to another)

  • Build a maze (materials TBD)

  • Learn a poem to recite together

Each challenge gives:

  • 1 word/phrase

At the end:

  • Combine words/phrases → form a poem revealing the rabbit’s location

Materials needed:

  • Stopwatch

  • Paper sheets

  • Questions about Alice in Wonderland

  • Rope/materials for maze

  • Plush White Rabbit

 

Break (15:00–15:30)

 

Block 2 – Tea Party (15:30–16:45)

Reading + improvisation (15 min)

  • Read the Tea Party chapter

Then:

  • Groups of 3 act out:

    • Drinking tea

    • Arguing

    • An absurd situation

Rule:

  • Must include 1 sung phrase

  • Then swap roles

 

Non-birthday activity (20 min)

  • Group chorus:
    “Happy non-birthday to you”

  • Each child:

    • Says their name in rhythm

  • Group responds by singing

 

Final scene creation (30 min)
Each group prepares:

  • 1 short scene (30–60 sec)

  • 1 musical moment

Free time

For the next day:

  • Bring objects from home related to the Wonderland universe

 

 

Day 5 – This is Wonderland!

Block 1 – Wonderland Universe (14:00–15:00)

Crazy Wonderland Orchestra (15 min)

  • Divide instruments

  • In a circle, conductor leads:

    • Loud/soft

    • Fast/slow

    • Silence

  • Children can also conduct

 

Show organization (45 min)

Structure:

  • Opening (falling sound)

  • White Rabbit scene

  • Group songs

  • Tea Party

  • Final group moment

 

Break (15:00–15:30)

 

Block 2 – Showtime (15:30–16:45)

Dress rehearsal (30 min)

Final performance (30 min)

 

Closing (16:45–17:00)

  • Wrap-up

  • Free time

  • Drawing
