Summer Fun Days

Summer activities for kids in a playful and encouraging environment to explore different aspects of music.

The idea with  our Fun Days at Music Room is to introduce the kids to the magical world of music. We will do through movement, singing, dancing, rhythm and games. The kids will discover music in a playful and creative way, in an exploring environment. Important for us is to encourage curiosity and the personality of all our students and to make the children get a piece of the amazing world of Music during these days, music from today, yesterday, and maybe even from the future.

Examples on activities could be; composition, discover instruments, making instrument of recycled material, improvisation, fun music games and much more..

It is time for another round of FUN DAY’s at Music Room, this time with the theme - Music through the times and our environments!

For 8 days we will get inspired by Music from different times and environements, how music could change from one part of the world to another and how it’s  been developed.

Come and explore and have fun with us these days! Together we will create our own special Summer at Music Room!

Wednesday July 1st 

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 – Folk music – We discover Folk music around the world! What is it? How does it sound like? And what is the rhythm and the dance of Folk music?

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 – Composition– We compose our own Folk music together

12.00 - END

 

Thursday July 2nd 

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 – Orchestral music – We discover what an orchestra is and how it could sound like through meeting the different instruments, imitating sounds and the gestures.

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 - Music story - We create a Music story with orchestra instruments as characters 

12.00 - END

 

Friday July 3

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 -  Music of the ocean - We will travel with the sea snail through the ocean, on the tail fin of a humpback whale to explore a new world of sounds inside the ocean. Through playful games and with body percussion we discover and learn rhythms and songs about the fishes and mermaids in the sea and the giant waves in a storm. 

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 – Creation of instrument - Together, we will construct a water xylophone and practice improvisation

Monday July 6

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 – Music of the forest – We explore music of nature. The sounds of the wind, rain and the animals!  We do this through listening games and movement-sound association games.

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 - Nature sounds versus Urban city sounds – How does the pollution sound like? We compose music combining nature and sounds around us.

12.00 - END

 

Tuesdays July 7

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 – The first instruments and instruments until today – Voice as a first instrument, how do we use it? What were other instruments used for? 

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 - Families of instruments – we discover different instrument families through identification games, mimic, coloring activities, music and dance and body percussion.

12.00 - END

 

Wednesday July 8

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 - Evolution of music throughout the times - Music of Middle Ages, Classical music, Contemporary music. And what was the function of the music back then? We let our ears, eyes and bodies get curious to explore more!

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 - Vivaldi  Discovery - “The Four Seasons”. We explore our emotions and impressions by putting colour on them.

12.00 - END

 

Thursday July 9

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 - Music all over the world - We explore what music you can hear in different parts of the world in a playful way we introduce the kids to this wonderful world of new tones and sounds.

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00  - Traditional dances around the world - We dance away to ancient music, classical music and to different styles of contemporary music (pop, rock, jazz, techno)

12.00 - END


 

Friday July 10

9.30 - Arrival

9.45-10.30 -Music of the future -  What will music be like in the future?  We compose with sound painting, with numbers and body percussion.

10.30-11.00 - Snack time

11.00-12.00 – Instrument of the future – the children have a creative moment using geometric shapes, colors, symbols, etc to create a part of the future.
